Foliage in Your Abode

Before we dive into the green garden of our four walls, it's worth asking – why should you have houseplants at home? Their undeniable decorative function is just the icing on the cake of other benefits. It's good to know that:

  1. Plants purify the air and increase its humidity.
  2. The greenery of houseplants brings harmony and peace to the interior.
  3. Plants liven up the arrangement and make the interior more cozy.
  4. Herbs count too! Not only are they edible plants, but they also smell wonderful.

Sounds good, right? Perhaps even unbelievable. That's why, especially for "botanical skeptics," we're going through the above list point by point :) We invite you to read on!

The Green Lungs of Your Home

Breathe deeply. Can't? That means something is amiss with the atmosphere in your apartment. Especially if you live in a city that struggles with smog (and where doesn't it these days?!).

To support the work of an electronic air purifier, opt for live plants. You'll look at them differently when you discover how wonderfully they affect the microclimate of your surroundings. Even the skeptics should be convinced by the fact that a list of the most effective air-purifying plants was also published by... NASA!

Out of this world!

NASA's list included as many as 18 houseplants. Those that purify the air best are chrysanthemum morifolium and dracaena deremensis. Among the winners were popular plants such as: dwarf date palm, common ivy, snake plant and ficus benjamina.
  • Plants act as natural air filters. Everyone knows they absorb carbon dioxide. But that's not all – some of them perfectly purify the air of toxins and other harmful substances.
  • Some plants also serve as natural air humidifiers, releasing most of the water they've been given.

So if you have a scratchy throat, a nagging cough, and watery eyes, the choice is simple – let pots with plants fill your four corners!

Space specialists advise...

NASA also issued a recommendation regarding the optimal number of plants for a healthy indoor microclimate. For every 10 square meters of space, there should be one houseplant.

Feeling Green, Feeling Great

Your mood reflects your interior. And we're not talking about your inner spiritual self, because as FormAdore, we know best about other kinds of interiors – those found under your roof. We know how important it is to live in a friendly environment, where the decor is tailored to our tastes. That's when we feel happier and filled with good energy.

See FormAdore Magazine: The Role of Colors in Interiors. How Do They Affect Your Well-being?

So if you feel that despite your favorite furniture and charming accessories, things aren't quite perfect in your home, perhaps it's about the color scheme. Of course, we're not encouraging anyone to paint all their walls green! After all, not everyone has to like green, and secondly – too much of a good thing can be bad. However, green accents must be visible. Why? Because home is a place for relaxation and unwinding, and it's no secret that green is the most relaxing color in the entire palette.

  • Shades of green closest to the middle of the palette are considered the most beneficial for the human mind.
  • This extraordinary color is also used in color therapy, for example, in treating depression.
  • Relaxing in the green embrace of nature, like no other form of relaxation, helps to unwind and calm down.
  • Green is associated with what is good, positive, optimistic, correct, and hopeful.

It's easy to see that associations with the color green are almost exclusively positive. Therefore, its sensible introduction into the interior can significantly improve our well-being.

Green is the new black

If we enter a room without houseplants, we immediately feel that something is missing. Plants are living organisms whose presence cannot be overlooked. That's why it's worth placing pots in your apartment not only to improve its microclimate and combat smog but also for decorative purposes.

Large plants, such as palms, should be placed in floor-standing pots. Their size can overwhelm an interior if they are not properly displayed. If the room is not large, it's better to opt for smaller plants in pots that can be placed on cabinets or hung on the wall.

Or perhaps a vase?

In the summer season, it's worth complementing the interior with cut flowers. Colorful bouquets not only decorate but also smell beautiful. Additionally, arranging them can be a lot of fun! You need to choose a vase, find a suitable place for it, and select your favorite flowers – you can buy a ready-made bouquet of tulips, but how much more satisfying it is to see a bunch of wildflowers, gathered yourself...

The Power of Herbs, or Health at Your Fingertips

A monstera in the living room, a row of succulents in the bedroom, a fern in the hallway... and in the kitchen? The choice is simple – herbs! These are plants without which it's hard to imagine today's kitchen. They enrich flavor and aroma, possess medicinal properties, liven up the kitchen interior, and smell absolutely wonderful. Don't worry, you don't need a house with a garden to enjoy fresh herbs. They are undemanding enough that you can grow them on a tiny windowsill, in equally small herb pots.

The healthiest herbs are...

Among the herbs and spices with the strongest health-promoting properties are oregano, basil, thyme, sage and peppermint.

For enthusiasts of new technologies in the service of old traditions, we have a real treat. There is a completely hassle-free method of growing herbs. We're talking about smart pots, "mini-gardens", also known as smart gardens. They are equipped with an automatic watering and lighting (LED) system for herb seedlings and other edible plants that can be grown in them. Just insert a capsule with a seed into the appropriate spot and... voilà! No more gardening chores, you can dust off your hands and patiently wait for the first sprouts :)

So if you want to have a garden that lives a life of its own at home, a smart pot is just for you.
