The German brand Obsession has made "Home Fashion" its motto. The rugs available in its offer are indeed like exquisite dresses for the home – available in many colour variations, diverse patterns, a wide range of sizes, and various fibres from which they are made. In short, everyone will find a rug for themselves in the Obsession catalogue!

The widest range of rugs on the market

In the brand's catalogue, you'll find over 100 models of modern rugs made from polypropylene, polyester, New Zealand wool, viscose, and silk, characterised by diverse fibres and intriguing patterns. From the selection, you can choose between flat-woven, jacquard, loop-pile, and even felt rugs of various dimensions, as 120x170 cm, 160x230 cm, and many other sizes of rugs are available.

Top-notch rugs

The rugs offered by the Obsession brand are divided into three series, among which Haute Couture stands out. Fashion enthusiasts will be familiar with this term – it's bespoke fashion, hand-stitched from the most exclusive materials, designed to captivate. Such are also the rugs from this series, which could be called the Dior dresses of the rug world. They are hand-woven from natural fibres: we therefore have wool rugs, viscose rugs, and those made from lyocell. They are adorned with sophisticated abstract patterns, making their surface look like a canvas painted by an artist.

Wool and Viscose Rugs

Natural fibres for lovers of all things natural

The Natureline series, on the other hand, consists of rectangular rugs that are somewhat more affordable, also woven from natural fibres. Although they are not recommended for allergy sufferers, they are characterised by the highest resistance to abrasion and high temperatures. They differ in their manufacturing method and parameters. For example, Beluga are hand-woven viscose rugs with a pile length of 9 mm and a weight of 4200 g; Lima rugs, made from felted wool strips, are thinner and lighter with a weight of 2700 g; Wellington is a collection of viscose-wool rugs with a pile length of 11 mm, while the Stepstone collection consists of handmade felt ball rugs, very thick, with a raised structure (30 mm, 5300 g). Let's take a closer look at them...

Viscose Rugs

Advantages:

  • dense and light,
  • colours achieve a high sheen,
  • they are smooth and give a cool impression,
  • they are stain-resistant.

Disadvantages:

  • not recommended for allergy sufferers.

Wool Rugs

Advantages:

  • they are very soft and pleasant to the touch,
  • anti-static and do not generate static electricity,
  • they are resilient, so they do not deform,
  • they influence the microclimate in the room (they absorb excess moisture, and release it into the surroundings when it's dry),
  • they provide good thermal insulation, quieten the interior, absorb sounds and noise,
  • high colour fastness.

Disadvantages:

  • CAUTION: shedding! The pile is released during the first months of use!
  • not recommended for allergy sufferers.

Natural Rugs with a Smooth Texture

Beluga, Maori, Wellington - these are collections for lovers of noble simplicity. Their surface is characterised by extremely soft pile, 8-11 mm thick, and high pile weight. This last parameter is extremely important - the higher the pile weight (the weight of the rug), the more substantial, softer, and simply better the rug is.

Pile weight, or rug weight

Pile weight is directly related to the number of tufts, the height of the pile, and the thickness of the pile threads. The higher these values, the better the quality of the rug.

Wool Textures and Finishes

Everyone will appreciate the tactile qualities of wool rugs! Woven in beautiful, sophisticated patterns, they can have a structure reminiscent of traditional South American rugs, like the Lima collection, or evoke idyllic, rustic atmospheres – here, the Dakota, Jaipur, and Studio rugs stand out. Modern felt with a three-dimensional texture in the Canyon and Stepstone rugs will add softness to even the most minimalist interiors.

Lightweight and Multicoloured Rugs

High-quality rugs made from synthetic fibres

In the most extensive Home series, you'll find a plethora of rug collections made from polyester, polypropylene, and sometimes wool blended with synthetic fibres, woven using various techniques: from cross-wave to tufted rugs.

Hand tufting

Hand-tufted rugs are made using high-quality raw materials, but instead of knots that need to be tied, a special gun-like device (a tufting gun) is used to inject loops of yarn into a canvas backing. The final stage of production involves trimming the fibres to the appropriate length, which makes the tips softer. This technique allows for quick and effective work, making it possible to create intricate patterns that cannot be achieved with other hand-weaving techniques.

In collections such as Laos, lovers of modern patterns will find geometric rugs. For proponents of vintage style, we recommend vintage rugs from Milano, and for eccentrics – the Maya and Venezia collections.

Cross-wave

This is a unique weaving technique on Wilton looms, where the rug is woven "sideways" rather than from top to bottom, fringe to fringe. This exceptional technique allows for the use of up to 24 shades of colour. It provides the ability to create rugs with the finest details and a beautiful decorative effect.

Rugs for Children and Teenagers

The Obsession brand hasn't forgotten about the youngest! Colourful rugs for children with wild patterns are also something you'll find in the German manufacturer's offering. For teenagers, we recommend the Hipster and Torino collections, and for younger children – Lollipop and Torino Kids.

Mat-style rugs (sisal look)

These are pile-less rugs – rough and hard. Thanks to their lightness and thin structure, they are quite easy to keep clean. Recommended for allergy sufferers.

Shaggy Rugs

For lovers of fluffy rugs, we recommend shaggy rugs with long pile from the Samba series. Their fluffy pile will be perfect in the bedroom by the bed, but they won't be a good choice for the living room due to the fact that they are harder to clean than short-pile rugs. They are made of acrylic, making them excellent for allergy sufferers. If, however, you fancy wool, reach for a faux fur rug instead, such as Premium Sheep.
