In 1977, Danish designer Erik Magnussen designed the EM77 coffee brewer, which quickly gained many loyal fans. The Stelton brand, with which the designer collaborates, recently decided to expand the range with an equally innovative thermal teapot. How do you brew tea the Scandinavian way? Find out below!
Erik Magnussen is a Danish designer, winner of the prestigious Red Dot Design Award, who combines beauty and aesthetics with minimalist functionality in his designs. Trained as a ceramicist, he worked with Bing & Grøndahl for many years before becoming professionally involved with the Stelton brand. It was for this company that he created the iconic thermal jugs, equipped with double walls and pistons that make brewing tea and coffee extremely efficient.

In his design of the thermal tea pot with brewer, he combined the durability of noble finished plastic with a simple form and 100 per cent functionality. The innovation of this teapot lies not only in the fact that it keeps the contents hot for a long time, but also in the fact that it is equipped with a piston mechanism that allows the tea to be brewed for the desired amount of time. With this brewer, you can therefore say goodbye to too strong bitter tea!

The EM tea brewer is designed to brew leaf tea, whether black, green, Roiboos or fruit tea.
- For best results, always pour fresh water over your tea, boiled to 100°C.
- If you are brewing black tea, you can use freshly boiled water, but for green tea, use water at 80°C.
- Place 4-5 g (2-3 small teaspoons) of tea in the steel basket of the brewer.
- Pour in water at the correct temperature up to 4 cm below the rim of the teapot. Allow the tea to brew for 4-6 minutes.
- Place the lid of the teapot in the open position and press the plunger slowly so that the tea is pressed into the bottom of the brewing basket. This will ensure that it stops brewing.
The tea is ready to drink! The teapot holds 1 litre of water, so there is enough delicious aromatic tea for about 8 cups. The teapot is available in three muted colours that will look beautiful in a Scandinavian kitchen. Remember that tea looks most beautiful in special tea cups - wide and shallow, so that the full aroma can be released.
The EM jug belongs to the Classic series, whose hallmarks are minimalism and functionality. The teapots-termos and thermal mugs that it includes are suitable for both use at home and on the go. They are perfect as gifts for all tea lovers who appreciate Scandinavian design.
