Bio-circular materials are increasingly making waves, and for good reason! They are the solutions our planet desperately needs. These materials are renewable within a closed-loop system, meaning they are sourced from existing products and then recycled. Hence the name – circularity.

How does this work for Koziol?
Their products are made from plastics derived from used biological oils sourced in Europe (specifically rapeseed and sunflower oil, in contrast to traditional plastic which comes from mineral oils obtained from crude oil).

The oils the brand "works" with to create its eco-products were previously used in the food industry and gastronomy. This means they are reprocessed instead of ending up as waste or in the proverbial bin.

But that's not the end of the story! At the final stage of use, Koziol products can be recycled, sending them back into the loop to become the basis for new products. That's the magic of the closed-loop system!

Koziol doesn't rest on its laurels; it's always seeking new solutions to reduce plastic usage. For instance, they employ a unique technology that adds sawdust and wood flour, sourced from paper production waste in Sweden, to their plastic. The resulting material has a lower plastic content but retains all its valued properties – it’s certified for food contact, dishwasher safe, and fully recyclable.

What exactly is climate neutrality, also known as carbon or emission neutrality? Simply put, it's a balance between CO2 emissions and the absorption of carbon dioxide by natural "sinks" such as soils, forests, and oceans.

In 2021, Koziol achieved 100% emission neutrality certification, thanks to a radical reduction in its carbon footprint during the production process and the establishment of new, sustainable tree plantations, which act as natural CO2 absorbers. The company is also regularly audited to ensure it meets its ecological commitments.
