Let's not hide family photos in old albums and computer folders. It's time for the most beautiful ones to see the light of day displayed in suitable photo frames. In this way, the keepsake will also become a beautiful decoration for our home.

Timeless photo frames

The first Polish photo shop opened in Warsaw between 1844 and 1845, so pictures in frames were already a feature of our grandmothers' homes. At the time, photography was not as accessible as it is today, which is why every successful shot was treated like a small work of art and placed in a place of honour and prominence. Picture frames of the time were made of beautifully decorated wood. They housed the photos, which were protected by a thin pane of glass at the front and a piece of cardboard at the back. Today's photo frames impress with their multitude of forms and colours - we really have something to choose from!

Standing photo frames

A standing frame simply needs to be placed in a representative location.

Imagine moments by the fireplace with a glass of wine in your hand. The sound of crackling logs and the glow of dancing flames, with photographs of your loved ones lined up above. Can you imagine a better evening?

Standing photo frames will also decorate our shelves and chests of drawers. A picture of your holiday trip on your bedside table will put you in a good mood every morning. Frames can also be placed on your desk at work - the smiling faces of your kids will certainly motivate you to get things done.

Appreciating memories

The abundant choice of frames makes it difficult to choose the most beautiful one among them. Fortunately, we don't have to (or even should!) limit ourselves to just one. The most popular for years have been the rectangular-shaped ones. They are easy to fit to the size of the photograph, are versatile and are favoured by virtually any decor. FormAdore offers frames in all the most popular sizes, including 10x15, 13x18, 15x21 and 20x25.

Multi-frames are a real hit! They can fold into a regular shape or take on fancy, irregular shapes. Multi-frames are capable of holding a really large number of photographs. Their greatest asset is the practically infinite number of arrangements we can achieve by various combinations of photographs. What's more, multi-frames can also serve as organisers. We have described the possibilities of multi-photo frames in a separate Magazine - have an inspiring read!

If you are more inclined towards non-standard solutions, you can go for round photo frames. However, fitting a photograph into them is no longer so easy; we often have to gently bend it or even cut its edges so that nothing sticks out.

Enthusiasts of modern forms will also find something for themselves - for example a 3D frame. This is an original decoration that will highlight photographs in a very visible way. Photos in a 3D frame are definitely closer to the viewer than those placed in traditional flat frames.

Today's photo frames are no longer only created from wood - although wooden frames still remain a prized material. There is also a choice of glass, metal and plastic. The variety of raw materials offers the chance to perfectly match them to any interior. Steel photo frames can be considered timeless and always elegant, and will look great in a representative place, such as the living room.

Photo frames for the wall - where to hang them and how to do it?

A few photos on the wall are enough to give your interior a stylish and unique character. We can hang pictures in decorative frames practically anywhere in the house. Family pictures, photographs of ancestors or wedding pictures usually go into the living room. Holiday memories can be hung in the hallway, for example. Souvenirs from a romantic, slightly intimate session, on the other hand, are of course best in the bedroom. In FormAdore, you will find a large collection of Umbra photo frames; when looking for the right frame for your favourite photographs, it is worth getting acquainted with the extensive offer of this Canadian brand.

Arranging a wall photo gallery

If you are dreaming of a wall gallery, you need to think carefully about the arrangement. The spacing between the frames should be large enough to make everything clear - and avoid a crowded effect. Frames of different styles, colours and shapes will work well together, but be careful not to overdo it - it's the mix that's in fashion, not the clutter!

A home gallery is a great way to utilise an empty wall.

When arranging photo frames, we can use a ready-made pattern, just choose the layout that suits us best. Let's create our composition first on the floor, tracing the frames on a large sheet of paper. Don't forget to mark the places where the nails should be hammered on the wall. Then stick the paper-cut frames to the wall using painter's tape. Now all that remains is to hammer in the nails or drill the holes in the places we have marked.

So that there are no surprises, don't forget to use a spirit level!

The priceless family photo gallery

Although it is becoming increasingly common to view photos on a computer or smartphone screen, framed photographs are by no means relics of the past. They are perfect for all interiors and the power of memories gives them extraordinary value, making them more than just a pretty trinket.
