Jewellery is an elegant adornment that accentuates the beauty of the wearer and perfectly complements many outfits. Unfortunately, over time, both gold and silver jewellery lose their lustre and aesthetic appeal. That's why we've prepared some practical tips for caring for and storing your precious items, ensuring your collection remains dazzling for a long time.
Silver jewellery...
over time loses its original shine, becoming dull and tarnished. The reason for silver tarnishing is polluted air, or more precisely – sulphur dioxide, which binds with silver atoms, forming a thin layer of silver sulphide on its surface. These particles are dark in colour and strip the jewellery of its lustre. However, there are many proven, effective home methods that can reverse this process. Find out what to use to clean silver.
Using toothpaste is a well-known and popular method for cleaning silver. All you need to do is apply a small amount of toothpaste to a cotton cloth or a soft-bristled toothbrush and gently rub the jewellery. Then, thoroughly rinse the precious items and dry them with a soft cloth. When choosing toothpaste for cleaning silver jewellery, remember not to use a product with a large amount of sodium and avoid using whitening toothpastes, as they can irrevocably damage silver.

Another method we recommend for removing dark patina from silver is to use aluminium foil, water, and salt. Simply line a small glass or plastic bowl with aluminium foil and pour in a hot solution of water and salt in a ratio of 1 teaspoon of salt to 200 ml of water. Mix the concoction, place the silver jewellery in the bowl, and leave it until the water cools and the dark residue gradually starts to accumulate on the aluminium foil. Then, remove the silver from the solution, rinse thoroughly with cold water, and dry with a soft cloth.
The popular drink Coca-Cola also works wonders on tarnished jewellery. The acid it contains effectively dissolves the grime that covers silver. All you need to do is place the jewellery in a bowl and pour in enough Coca-Cola to completely submerge the trinkets. Leave them in the drink for a while (the exact time depends on the degree of tarnishing). Wash and dry the removed jewellery.

Gold jewellery
Gold jewellery over time loses its beautiful colour and becomes covered with an unsightly film. The cause of the specific colour appearing on gold is carbon dioxide present in the air, which adversely affects gold precious items. As with silver, simple home remedies come to the rescue, allowing you to easily and quickly restore gold jewellery to its beautiful, dazzling appearance.
Using dishwashing liquid is a great way to clean gold. Simply pour a few drops of liquid into a bowl of warm water, mix, and then place the gold items into the mixture. After about 15 minutes, remove the jewellery, gently clean each trinket with a soft brush or cloth, and then dry thoroughly.

Baking powder also has excellent cleaning properties for silver. Apply a little baking powder to a water-dampened cotton pad and wait for it to foam. Then, gently wipe the gold item with the cotton pad, leaving a small amount of the foaming baking powder on it. Wait several tens of minutes. Thoroughly wash the jewellery and dry it.
An equally effective method is to rub gold with a cotton pad soaked in vinegar or a cut lemon. Jewellery treated with vinegar or lemon should be left for a few hours, then rinsed with water and dried.
Jewellery, especially that made of precious metals like gold and silver, is not resistant to moisture, sunlight, dust, and contact with various detergents, e.g. perfumes, creams, or lotions. Under the influence of adverse external factors, it becomes dull and tarnished, and consequently – suffers damage more quickly and loses its original shine. Therefore, caring for trinkets includes not only regular cleaning but also proper storage, which should be chosen based on both the type of trinket and how often it's worn.
This is where jewellery organisers come to the rescue, in the form of aesthetic and practical jewellery boxes or beautifully presented jewellery caskets equipped with a series of useful compartments. A sealed jewellery box, divided into smaller compartments and lined with soft material, will protect our precious items from damage, tangling, scratching, or damage to delicate clasps. Additionally, a jewellery box, despite its small size, is spacious, allowing you to store a truly impressive collection of jewellery inside. A trinket casket is an excellent way to secure jewellery, as well as an effective interior decoration. A traditional, yet charming wooden jewellery box will be a perfect complement to a classic dressing table or bedside cabinet. Glass jewellery boxes are also an interesting proposition, as they protect trinkets from dust and moisture, while also beautifully displaying them.
If you own a substantial amount of bracelets, necklaces, rings, and other trinkets, you might be interested in creating a jewellery drawer. We offer special jewellery inserts designed for drawer installation, which will surely accommodate all your precious items.

An interesting way to simultaneously store and display precious items is through jewellery trays and decorative stands, among which you'll also find special ring stands. Steel or plastic stands, in the shape of charming animals or a tree, will decorate a dressing table, desk, or chest of drawers in a unique way.
Handy trays, stands, and jewellery hangers provide quick access to precious items, but it's important to remember that not every type of jewellery can be stored on them. As we've already mentioned, gold and silver jewellery is better kept in closed organisers. You also shouldn't keep necklaces made of stiff, round metal wires on a stand, as they could become misshapen under their own weight.
You can freely keep costume jewellery, as well as beads and necklaces without a permanent round shape on a stand or tray, thus protecting them from tangling. A stand or tray is an excellent place to store jewellery that we wear every day. Simply take off your trinkets before bed, place them on the tray or hang them on the stand, to easily find and put them back on in the morning.
It's worth taking care of regular cleaning and proper storage of jewellery to enjoy its beautiful appearance and full sparkle for a long time.
