Weddings, christenings, holiday getaways – we love immortalising joyous and significant moments in photographs. However, photos that evoke cherished memories require the right setting. To display them beautifully, it's worth investing in classic or modern, elegant or designer photo frames. Perfectly matched to your interior décor and the photographs within, they'll remind you of happy times every day, and your home will take on a more atmospheric, homely feel.

How to match photo frames to your interior?

An important element to consider when choosing the right photo frames for your interior is the style and character of the room. Frames should complement the décor, whilst also becoming an eye-catching element that enhances the space.

For a modern interior, designer frames with unusual shapes and decorative elements will work wonderfully. White photo frames or those in another, yet understated, non-distracting colour and a simple shape are an excellent choice for Scandinavian interiors, characterised by simplicity and minimalism. Wooden frames, which lend a pleasant and cosy character to rooms, look perfect in classic, rustic, retro, or vintage interiors. Though it must be said, they also work well in a Scandinavian-style space, subtly breaking up the modern and somewhat austere arrangement.

The shape of the frame is also an important aspect. Square and rectangular frames will fit into any room's décor, emphasising its tasteful character. Round frames, on the other hand, are a fantastic choice for a child's room. Photos placed within them will beautifully frame your little one's photographs, posters, or drawings, and will liven up their corner of the world.

It's also impossible not to mention the incredibly interesting and eye-catching stands and hangers, which offer a brilliant alternative to traditional frames. Ingenious 3D frames, distinguished by their three-dimensional form and elaborate shapes, are a superb solution for modern, dynamic, energetic interiors bustling with life, where stylish decorations are in abundance.

When choosing a photo frame to match your interior, we should also consider the material it's made from. Charming and timeless wooden frames, synonymous with elegance and good taste, work best in well-appointed and sophisticated interiors. Metal products, simple in form, are also an interesting solution and look particularly good in modern, minimalist, and industrial spaces. They will present themselves beautifully in a modern kitchen, office, or living room on a chest of drawers, near a leather sofa. In turn, cleverly chosen plastic frames will fit the character of any interior.

How to choose a frame for a photo?

Many people, when deciding to display photos at home, focus primarily on the appearance of the frame. Of course, choosing the right frame for the interior is important, but no less crucial is selecting the frame for the photo you intend to place in it. We should match the photograph to the frame's style, but also appropriately choose the frame size to the photo size.

Tip!

Frames should be matched to the character, mood, and dynamism of a particular photograph.

Simple and elegant frames in subdued colours and traditional shapes are a good choice for photos depicting people in formal attire and solemn settings, taken on the occasion of important and significant life events such as a communion, christening, or wedding. Classic wooden frames provide a wonderful setting for family photographs and old-style photos. If, however, you want to display photos in your interior that show you in everyday situations, such as a walk in the park or a holiday trip, you can successfully choose a frame that stands out with its shape and colour, and with decorative elements. These types of photos look particularly good in 3D frames, as well as those made of plastic. In turn, for framing photographs of our little ones, children's photo frames, characterised by fanciful shapes and colours, will be perfect.

An important aspect is also the choice of frame size. It is suggested that the frame should not be the same size as the photo, but these two sizes should not differ too much. It's best to choose a frame that is a few centimetres larger than the photo. Frames with a passe-partout, or decorative border, are also an interesting proposition. This additional frame is an eye-catching element designed to emphasise the aesthetics of the photograph, as well as to give the frame expressiveness and increase its attractiveness.

At FormAdore, you will find photo frames in the most popular sizes, making it easy to match the right model to your photos. A 10x15, 13x18, 15x21, 20x25 frame – do you already know which dimension will best showcase your photographs?

How to display photos in frames?

The answer to this question is really quite simple. All you have to do is place your photos on a chest of drawers, a desk, a bedside table, a dressing table, a mantelpiece, a wall shelf, or any other visible spot.

Note!

Aside from the prevailing style of the room, the frame must be chosen to suit the specific place where you intend to put it.

This means, for instance, that fancy 3D frames won't look good on a piano or a chest of drawers in a study. In such places, it's worth opting for elegant classic frames to display photos. Conversely – on a desk in a child's room or a windowsill in a bedroom, photographs will look better in eye-catching frames with interesting designs than in subdued and elegant frames.

Even though photo frames should match the character of a given room, it doesn't mean we can't play with their form a little. Rectangular and round frames of various sizes, matching in style and placed on a shelf or chest of drawers, will look fantastic in your living room or bedroom. It's also a good idea to display frames in subdued colours and then add, for example, two frames in a strongly contrasting colour. Thanks to such simple tricks, your composition of photo frames will look even more interesting and decoratively appealing.

You can also put a black and white photograph in a coloured frame to maintain contrast, or quite the opposite – add even more colour with an appropriate photo. And if you're completely out of ideas for creating a home photo gallery or don't have much free space on your chest of drawers – opt for multi-frames! A multi-photo frame will tastefully display memories captured in photographs. Everything really depends on your imagination and creativity! So choose frames for interiors and photos with moderation, but a touch of madness is definitely recommended here. Remember, a multi-photo frame is a place for many memories :)

Preserve beautiful moments for longer

Whether arranged on a chest of drawers, a shelf, or a mantelpiece, photo frames are a brilliant way to decorate our space and imbue it with a unique, cosy character. Captured memories, nestled in tasteful frames, will enliven and adorn your interior, bringing out the best in your photographs every single day, reminding you of pleasant and important moments in life.
