Every day, as we perform our morning toilette, we gaze into the silvery surface. We owe it not only our impeccable appearance. Although we probably don't believe in enchanted mirrors any more, they can magically enlarge a bathroom, make it sparkle and give it character. Provided their choice is not haphazard.
When deciding to buy a bathroom mirror, we should keep its purpose in mind - it will not adorn the living room or hallway, so it must be made entirely of moisture-resistant materials. We should also consider where to place it. Ideally, it should be used by all members of the household, regardless of their height, to avoid having to bend or stand on tiptoe. Also consider whether you want to be able to see just a reflection of your face or your whole silhouette in it.
Windows in the bathroom are unfortunately rare. Due to the lack of natural daylight in it, it is very important to illuminate the mirrors properly. The most popular solution is to place lamps just above the glass surface. We can also install them on the side, right and left.
The smaller the bathroom, the larger the mirror - this is the basic rule we should follow. Let's not be afraid of bold solutions. Taking up an entire wall? Great! It will optically give the room extra space. Hang a second mirror on the opposite side to create a depth effect that will turn the room into a veritable land of mirrors. Although we're definitely going for a maxi size, a small cosmetic mirror will also help, especially for ladies. Mounted on the wall, it will be within easy reach whenever they want to touch up their make-up.
The shape of the glass panel should also be chosen wisely. While rectangular and square mirrors will work in virtually any bathroom, round mirrors are not necessarily suitable. Although they are tempting with their originality and promise an unconventional design, they will only go well with streamlined equipment - an angular bathtub and washbasin are not the best company for them.
Unusual forms of mirrors certainly impress with their striking style, but let's pay attention to whether they are practical. A scattered mosaic or thin waves work much better as decoration for the living room or bedroom.
Frameless mirrors that hang smoothly on the wall are currently very popular. Their universal beauty makes them look great, regardless of the size and design of the bathroom. On the other hand, those enclosed in large decorative frames can be the main design element, creating an atmosphere in an austere and minimalist arrangement. The right choice of material, shape and colour will give it character and an original style. However, care should be taken not to let too large a frame overwhelm the small size of the room.
