Biedermeier bouquet, nosegay, pomander - sounds mysterious? These are tried-and-tested floral compositions to decorate your home. Make them yourself and choose the right vase to make them look even more beautiful!

The power of flowers

Flowers can be found in almost every home. In addition to potted plants adorning window sills, we are increasingly turning to armfuls of cut flowers, an elegant decoration that welcomes us from the doorstep.

Flowers are a beautiful and fragrant decoration for any interior.

A colourful bouquet of flowers placed in the hallway will immediately lift our mood when we come home from work tired. It will please our eyes and... our nose. The beauty of a bouquet is also its unique aroma, which cannot be matched by any of the fragrances and air fresheners you can find on the shop shelves. Flowers make mornings, family breakfasts or dinners with loved ones more pleasant. They have a positive impact on the interior design and our mood.

Arranging bouquets

Fresh-cut flowers brought into the house will be like a bit of sunshine and will brighten up the house even on a gloomy, rainy day. We can pick the ones we find in the field or meadow. Simply tie them with string or ribbon and place them in an original vase to create a beautiful composition in a rustic atmosphere. We also have some other suggestions for you.

Types of bouquets:

  • The Biedermeier bouquet is classic, simple and beautiful. Roses are most often chosen for this, which are arranged tightly to form a circular whole. The length of the stems should be the same. We can decorate the outside of the bouquet with lace or a bit of tulle;
  • the cascade bouquet is an impressive bouquet in which we weave different species of flowers. It can include buds, but also decorative green elements - the whole should create a rich, slightly fairytale-like composition. Cascades were popular in the 1980s, but are now back in favour and can be used as an original table decoration. Due to its considerable size, we recommend it mainly for larger table tops;
  • the nosegay bouquet is a simple yet very elegant bouquet. The flower stems are long and tightly bound, and the top is made up of flowering buds, arranged in an oval shape. Roses, callas and lilies are particularly suitable for its design;
  • the pomander bouquet is a composition that is deceptively reminiscent of a Biedermeier bouquet. The only difference is the absence of stems. A pomander is a floral ball that, instead of being placed in a vase, is hung on a decorative string or chain. It can hang on the porch, in an open window, on a chandelier - it all depends on our imagination.

A bouquet of flowers in a vase

Whether you are planning a sumptuous dinner for the family or a Saturday lunch with friends, make sure your table looks impeccable. Obviously, the menu and tasteful tableware are the priority, but it is the accessories and decorative elements that will create a unique atmosphere during the meal. Even on a small table, there is certainly room for a little plant decoration.

For a ball-shaped bouquet (e.g. Biedermeier bouquet), choose a low, bulbous vessel - such as a ball vase. When arranging the bouquet, start with the largest flowers, which are evenly distributed around the sides, back and centre. These will determine the form of the bouquet. Fill in the spaces in between with smaller flowers. To make things easier for yourself, use a florist's sponge or create a filling made from unwanted leaves.

Glass, ceramic and... metal

Match the vase to the type of flowers, but also to the design of your home

Almost any type of bouquet will look great in a glass vase half-filled with water. Sometimes, however, it makes sense to contrast the colour of the flowers with the opposite colour of the vessel. An original, bold combination can create a great eye-catching effect. Another interesting solution is to place the bouquet in a vase a tone darker than the colour of the flowers.

Let us remember that there is more than just glass to choose from. The beauty of exotic plants can be emphasised with a ceramic or metal product, which will give the bouquet a unique character. A silver vase will attract a lot of attention. For those who prefer innovative solutions, we recommend modern asymmetrical vases, which can even make an original composition out of field daisies.

Which flowers to present in a decanter or bottle?

If you don't have time to compose a bouquet in a vase, it is enough to reach for a single flower, which you place in a narrow flacon, e.g. a tall vase or in a cylinder vase. A small decanter or glass bottle can also do the job. What can we put in them? On their own, magnificent roses or spring tulips look great. In summer, you can choose colourful carnations, gerberas or peonies. Such a subtle decoration will work on the table as well as in the bedroom. Although small, it will bring a touch of life and colour everywhere.

Not just for flowers

Vases can also look great solo. The original, slightly extravagant ones will decorate a bookcase or chest of drawers even after the flowers have wilted. Choose a decorative vase and it will decorate your interior regardless of the content.
