This set of two Raw Diamonds dessert plates is part of the new Designer's Cut collection from Menu. The name of the collection is not coincidental and alludes to films in the 'Director's Cut' version, i.e. edited as the director wished, with no regard for cost, film length or possible audience popularity. Designer's Cut aims to free designers from the constraints of production costs or practicality. Raw Diamonds is part of an interesting experiment led by Menu. A group of designers from Design by Us designed objects that escape easy classification, rich in a variety of means of expression from form, through texture, to unusual graphics. From the outside, the pieces of the collection resemble an uncut diamond, displaying polygonal facets with a matt texture. The inside of the dishes catches the eye with a lacquered, glossy surface decorated with graphics combining features of Japanese ornaments, tattoos and rustic floral patterns. The plates presented here are both an excellent option for serving dessert and can also be used as coasters for Raw Diamonds bowls.
