Such is the status of the Juicy Salif lemon squeezer, which is also one of Alessi 's most recognisable products and a symbol of the greatness of its creator, the famous French designer Philippe Starck. It is hard to believe that this world-famous lemon squeezer, presented as part of the collection of many design museums, made of polished aluminium, was presented at the Alessi brand headquarters in the late 1980s instead of a design commissioned to the designer.... a steel tray. What's more, the idea for the product presented here was born in a restaurant where Philippe Starck was spending time over a plate of frutti di mare. This lunch turned out to be very fruitful, and the squeezer, sketched on a stained napkin, became a reflection of Alessi's vision of creating products that are both functional and beautiful, influencing the environment and the feelings of its customers. What makes Phillipe Starck's design unique is the break with the classic form, while maintaining the functionality of the product.
