The spoon on display was designed as part of a competition organised by Domus magazine to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of the world-famous 'Cucchiaio d'Argento' (Silver Spoon) cookbook, which has sold 3 million copies over the years. To mark the occasion, five designers from different countries were invited to create a new serving spoon. The award winner was Inga Sempe from France for her design of a very simple yet expressive spoon. The spoon in this shape encourages people to gather around the table together and enjoy the best dishes, such as risotto, with which the spoon works particularly well. Despite the pronounced taper in the centre, it has been made from a single piece of top-quality steel.
