Another of the products debuting in Alessi's Spring/Summer 2011 collection, the Alessi Moka Cafetier is a reference to a product that is one of the cornerstones of the Italian lifestyle - the Moka Express brewer. In the 1930s, Alfonso Bialetti designed and produced the first moka coffee brewer, which became an icon of Italian coffee brewing culture. Alessandro Mendini was given the responsible task of creating a new Alessi Moka brewer, referring to this iconic design and reinterpreting the work of his brilliant predecessor with the advances of modern technology. The aim was to introduce a new, distinctive object to the AdiAlessi catalogue at an affordable price. The Alessi Moka combines the characteristics of the best brewers with the distinctive, casual style of Alessandro Mendini. The body of the cafetiere appears to be composed of several elements in the shape of a bagel - the original handle is also matched to this unusual shape.
