"Careful, there's a beverage here!" - 5 drinks form famous movies

Nothing makes the drinks as trendy as their presence in a famous film or series. Cult movies have not only created remarkable film characters but also introduced many unforgettable cocktails, which might easily steal your heart even quicker than the actors themselves.. but be careful, it might make you feel a bit lightheaded. Today, we will take you on a film tour and teach you how to make the most popular drinks, such as White Russian or Cosmpolitan.

Vesper martini

Semi-dry martini. Shaken, not stirred.

The saying above is one of the most famous movie quotes in history. Interestingly though, despite the huge popularity of James Bond, when you order a martini in a bar, it will almost certainly not be served this way.  In James Bond's book, the protagonist has a drink consisting of gin, vodka and Lillet liquor in 3:1:0.5 proportions, while the classic martini is simply gin with vermouth in various proportions.  But if you don't like doing what everyone else does, just as the most famous agent himself, then go for what James Bond would drink!

The ingredients:

  • 3 portions of gin
  • 1 portion of vodka
  • 0.5 portions of Lillet
  • lemon peel

Preparation:

Prepare a martini glass on a high leg and fill it up with ice cubes to cool it down and then empty it of ice. Use a bar measure to measure a portion of vodka, 3 portions of gin and half a portion of Lillet and pour it into a shaker filled with ice. Shake it a few times and carefully pour the liquid without ice cubes into the previously cooled glass. In the end, add a thin strip of lemon peel for aroma (to make the peel look nicer, you can turn it around your fingers beforehand).

Interesting fact

When making an Esperanto martini according to this recipe, you have to keep in mind that it will not be exactly what James Bond drunk. Lillet is now made according to a different recipe than in Bond's time.

2. French 75

"Of All The Gin Joints In All The Towns In All The World, She Walks Into Mine."

The words of Rick Blaine from Casablanca played by Humphrey Bogart perfectly describe the story of unfulfilled love between him and Ilsa. The famous drink popularized by the film, you can drink not only with a broken heart but also with your other half... Not vodka, because this one is not used in French 75. The name 75 refers to the model of cannon used by the French during World War I, and over the years several different recipes have been hidden underneath it - the one based on gin and champagne has gained the greatest appreciation and it is this recipe that we suggest to you today.

Ingredients:

  • 1 portion of gin
  • 1/2 portion of lemon juice
  • 1/2 portion of sugar syrup
  • champagne

Preparation:

Put ice in a Boston-type shaker. Use a bar measure to measure a portion of gin, half a portion of lemon juice and sugar syrup and pour it into the shaker. Shake and then pour the liquid into a champagne or a cocktail glass. Fill with champagne and add a slice of lemon peel. You can also decorate your drink with a cocktail cherry.

3. White Russian

"Careful, man, there's a beverage here!"

Lebowski from the film under the same title - Big Lebowski - makes this statement when someone tries to drag him into a car by force. He is more interested in the safety of his drink than in the safety of himself, and it is hardly surprising - he has his favourite drink, White Russian, in his hand. A black and white cocktail is ideal for those who cannot decide which one will make them feel better: something sweet or maybe alcohol. Why choose when you can have both at once?

The ingredients:

  • 2 portions of vodka
  • 1 portion of coffee liqueur (Lebowski uses Kahlua liqueur)
  • 1/2 portion of cream, condensed milk or plain milk (note, then the drink will be less runny)
  • 3-4 ice cubes

Preparation:

Mix ice, coffee liqueur and vodka in a glass or shaker with a spoonful of bar. Pour it together with the ice into a tall drink glass or whisky glass and then carefully pour the cream or milk - it is best to pour it on the outside of an inverted spoon so that the border between the dark bottom and the light top is visible.

Our advice

If you want the layers to be clearly visible, use cream. Before making the drink, put the cream in the fridge for about 5 minutes and whisk with a fork and then carefully spoon the dark layer of the drink.

4. Cosmopolitan

"I'd like a cheeseburger, please, a large fries and a Cosmopolitan."

So the universal recipe for happiness according to Carrie from Sex in the big city. It heals a broken heart, puts it on its feet after a hard day and works perfectly in the company of friends. The drink made famous by the cult TV series is now available in almost every bar, but we suggest how to make it yourself. We guarantee that it will do its job even without a cheeseburger and fries!

Ingredients:

  • 2 portions of vodka
  • 1 serving of Cointreau bitter orange liqueur
  • 1 portion of lime juice
  • 1 portion of cranberry juice
  • Ice

The way of preparation:

Pour the ice into the shaker with a pair of tongs and measure the vodka, liqueur and juices. Pour it into the shaker and shake it vigorously and then pour the drink into a drinking glass on a high leg.

5. Tequila Sunrise

“- Nick Frescia: Generally I recommend my men stay away from vodka, and stick with scotch and bourbon.
- Jo Ann: Why is that?
- Nick Frescia: So the brass will know they're drunk and not stupid.”

Nick speaks of alcohol in the famous Tequila Sunrise movie. We don't have any objections to vodka-based drinks, of course, but we won't despise tequila either, so we suggest how to make the most famous tequila drink once loved by Mick Jagger. It is not difficult to achieve spectacular layers that really resemble sunrise in colours, and it will certainly make a great impression on others! It is quite possible that people would be more pleased with it than with vodka! ;-)

The ingredients:

  • 2-3 ice cubes
  • 3 portions of tequila
  • 6 portions of orange juice
  • 1.5 portions of grenadine

Preparation:

Put some ice cubes in a tall drink glass. Pour tequila and orange juice, stir gently. Then slowly pour the grenadine, preferably along the side of the wall of the glass - it should fall to the bottom, forming a much darker layer. You can also use a special funnel for pouring. You can decorate the glass with a slice of orange.
