KitchenAid is a brand that needs no introduction to lovers of good home cooking. The history of the brand dates back to the era of the technical revolution at the beginning of the last century, when Herbert Johnston, an engineer, invented a way to mechanise the manual work of bakers. The idea was to set the machine tool into a specific 'planetary' motion, mimicking the kneading of dough by hand. A line of machines based on this design went into production under the KitchenAid brand after being patented in 1919.
